I find a 5 ft deep window well to be challenging to climb out of. I priced making my own ladder from 1/2" pipe...but parts without shipping was close to $100. Decided to try this model out. It works well. My window well is galvanized with 5 inch black rubber piece on top of corrogated galvanized wall. I could not just hang the ladder from the top with no bolts....because ladder load bends the black rubber piece over. I drilled and bolted my ladder to the galvanized wall using 5/16" lag bolts. The ladder takes 6 bolts and comes with six 1/2" diameter holes pre-drilled. Took about 1 hour to install. Now time to order the 2nd ladder for my 2nd egress window to complete the house.
